If you cannot make a connection to port 2401 on the CVS server (use a
telnet client to test, or 'pung' from freshmeat), then that is the
problem. If you have SSH access through the firewall, establish an
identity on SourceForge and try using developer access instead of
anonymous.
The CVS port 2401 can be forwarded using a connection forwarder without
difficulty. Unlike FTP, the protocol data stream contains no IP
addresses or port numbers. The freshmeat project 'tcpxd' can handle
this, but you'd have to run it on the firewall. Or if you have SSH
access, you can use SSH to forward the connection via a shell account.
