Sort of.
I'm glad to have access to a project like this and the outcomes it can produce.
But, I have to admit that as someone who only wants to use the resulting products it's been a bit frustrating trying to discern what I need to do to get an install going on my particular environment.
I will probably never contribute anything in the way of source code for FreeTDS or SQSH. Not because I can't code; because that's not how I want to be able to use it.
If I could simply grab a binary that would install and run on my set up I would be absolutely ecstatic. Hell, I'd pay for it !!!
But I must admit that I am quite impressed with the range of ports that FreeTDS has available.
Can't say for SQSH because I haven't dowloaded it ... yet. Just about to do that

i can verify that ASE 12 works using FreeTDS 0.52.
i connected from a BeOS PC and also from a Solaris 2.51 server.
ASE 12.0 was running on an ultra-sparc on Solaris 2.7
In fact i have a FreeTDS and SQSH bundle for BeOS which works very well.
I can't help but be impressed by this.
One measure of software design is surely flexibility: the ability to be
used/adapated in ways the designer never intended.
On a scale of 0 to 1, what do you think the probability is that:
1. Scott Gray intended SQSH to work on BeOS?
and
2. Brian Bruns intended FreeTDS to connect SQSH on BeOS to a future
version of Sybase?
I vote: 0. Sybase also deserves some credit for not breaking the protocol.
Chalk up one for open collaboration.
Did anyone else have the same reaction?
