I've been away from this discussion for a while. I've read the documentation on setting the textsize to around 5000 or something like that. My question is where exactly do I put this line of code? Do I need to compile the driver, is there something that I can set when I initialize the driver?
thanks for your help,
greg

I did some searching through the archives and found some info, but
no specifics on this problem I'm having. What happens is that
whenever I try to get data out of a text field in a database then I
only get back around 4 KB. I am using IIS 5 with Tomcat and am
hitting a sql server 7 database. It brings back the same amount
every time: ~4096 bytes. Has anyone else had problems along these
lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please look again. This question comes up regularly. Try, for example,
searching on "SET TEXTSIZE".
Any chance this could be added to the FAQ document?
Harrumph! Well, yes, ok, maybe, sure.
I did try to address it in the User Guide, under "Text Fields". And
MS's documentation states that 4096 is the default TEXTSIZE value.

But maybe you're right, Bob. Maybe in the FAQ under "Problems Running"
there should be a subsection (called "RTFM"?) explaining a few things
like this that people bump into from time to time. It is one of the
goofier parts of T-SQL.
