Well, not quite. But you cannot log in until someone runs a TDS server
on a 64-bit machine with the protocol fields a bit bigger. So it is an
interoperability issue.
Debian potato package netmaze on Alpha does not interoperate with
netmaze server on Intel because of this same issue, so there is a
precedent.
I've an alpha running Debian to help you with if required.
