Hi Alan!

Looks like everyone was so busy with the election that no one answered you.
Is that
the case?

I thought I'd drive the welcome wagon if no one else has knocked on your door
yet.
(No one appointed an official greeter, that I know of.) I want you at least
to know
that there is always room for contribution.

If you're working on something that you don't see any code for yet, you're
not going
to step on any toes. I've been following the list for several months, and
I've never
seen any mention of the dbrpc* functions. I'd say you have plenty of room to
stretch
your fingers. As you say, in your spare time, naturally.

Brian does all the heavy lifting with the C libraries, and it's not my place
to speak
for him. But I'd be very surprised if your working code didn't find its way
into the
main tree pretty readily.

FWIW, I'm signed up to maintain the FAQ and create a user guide (in
progress), and
have an interest in making the bcp library more complete. I'm also happy to
answer
questions to the extent that I can. You're best off posting to the list, of
course,
where all the smart people are. I try to be helpful in the margins where my
experience lies: C++, perl., and SQL. I've done my time with Ole and COM
too, but
they don't show up much on this list.

Anyway, make yourself at home and holler if it seems like the thing to do at
the
time.

Regards,

--jkl
