Brian,

The problem is definitely a linking error. The .o file compiles correctly,
but when I attempt to link it still can not find the functions. I then did
some searching through my system. I found sys/types.h, but it contains no
reference to sys/select.h. In fact, sys/select.h is not present on my
system.

At this point I figured that it must be time to upgrade my compiler so that
I have all the current .h files. I downloaded and installed the "latest and
greatest" GCC, but sys/select.h is still not present on the system. I'm
about ready to get glibc2 and go through the build/install process there
unless you can recommend a more expedient method of getting the select.h
file.

Sincerely,
John DeJournett

It's defined in sys/select.h which is included from
sys/types.h which is in
the file. Try a two step compile to see if its a header or
linker problem

gcc -o passthru.o -c passthru.c
gcc -o passthru passthru.o
