That's not a problem with C. That's just the default behavior of your
particular compiler. I haven't seen a C compiler in more than twenty
years which didn't have an option available for cranking up the warning
level (and of course some have a warning level sufficiently high to
catch this problem as the default). Can't tell from your message which
compiler you're using, so I'll assume gcc, in which case you'll get all
the warnings you want with -Wall.
