Master Gardener Training Planned to Start Feb. 2014 The Master Gardener Program of Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension is planning a Master Gardener training to start in February 2014. The Master Gardener Program is a national program
of trained volunteers who work in partnership with their county Cooperative Extension office to expand the agency's educational outreach by providing home gardeners with research-based information. Master Gardener trainees should have a basic knowledge of gardening, enthusiasm for acquiring new knowledge and skills, and good communication skills. Most important of all, MG trainees must have
the willingness and spare time to participate in volunteer activities. Classroom training will take place Thursday evenings, 6-9 pm, in Ithaca, from early February to mid-April. Hands-on, practical gardening skills will be taught in garden settings over the spring
and summer, then classes will resume Thursday evenings in the fall. If you would like to be considered for this training, please contact Pat Curran as soon as possible at 272-2292 or
pc21 AT cornell.edu; include your US mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number. The application and information packet needs to be sent out soon, so that applications can be returned promptly. Applications will
be reviewed, and interviews will be scheduled for mid-December or January. |
