Hi,

Please note that the date is wrong on this email! The correct date is July 19th, next Tuesday.

Sorry for any confusion.

Rachel

Upcoming "Grow Your Own" Classes
The Dryden Community Garden will be hosting free "Grow Your Own" classes on the third Tuesday of each month at the Dryden Community Center Cafe. Families are welcome and snacks will be provided! Is there a topic you'd like to see covered in an upcoming class? Email Rachel at rfirak AT gmail.com and we'll do our best to get it on the schedule.

July 21st, 6:30-8 pm: Kombucha Making Class with Kerra Quinn
Gardening may stop for most of us at the windowsill, but have you ever farmed bacteria and yeast? If you've made sourdough bread, cheese, yogurt, sauerkraut, or beer, then you have! We at DCG wanted to venture into other avenues of making food, and where best to start in the heat of summer with a cool, sweet, refreshing, fizzy drink like kombucha?? Kombucha is a fermented sweet tea drink made from a SCOBY: a Symbiotic Collection Of Bacteria and Yeasts. According to some, it's a super healthy drink; to others, it's just tasty. If you'd like to come and learn how to make it yourself, please RSVP by replying to this email. The first 10 RSVPs will get a free SCOBY to take home from the class to start making their own kombucha! If there are more, you will be put on a call list to get a SCOBY as soon as one grows. Bring a quart canning jar with a lid ring or rubber band.
