Thanks, Loren. I asked this question very shortly after your original
posting about the book, but my posting was delayed a long time because my new
email address made me look like a non-member of the list. By then the answer
was pretty clear from the ensuing discussion. Hopefully I'm current again.

Re. Gal 2:7. "The hundreds of thousands of Israelites
living in the Diaspora either knew nothing of this
Maccabee innovation [circumcision] or did not practice
it as a barbarian (that is, Judean) custom" (p 193).
Re. Gal 2:9. As before, "going to the ETHNE" means
going to Israelites resident among the ETHNE (see my
previous citation from the intro, pp 6-7).
