Albert,

The 'Acts of Paul' (2nd Century) connects Titus with Iconium and places him with Paul in Rome. Not all of the 'Acts of Paul' is extant but it is possible that some traditions from the missing sections are preserved in the 'Acts of Titus'. There is also an "Acts of Timothy" (4th or 5th Century?), and a spurious "Epistle of Titus".

Tertullians discussions of Gal 2:3-5 and Acts 16:3 are interesting.

Origen thought that Timothy was from Derbe.

Eusebius (Ecclesiastical History book 3) states, "So Timothy is recorded as the first to receive the bishopric of the diocese of Ephesus, as also was Titus of the churches in Crete." I think Necephorus repeats this tradition.

Other places where the names Titus and/or Timothy also appear include Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, Ambrose, the longer versions of the letters of Ignatius, the Acts of Peter, the Life of Polycarp, the Apostolical Constitutions, and the Apocalypse of Paul (4th Century?).

The big question, of course, is whether any of these traditions are of historical value.

Regards,

Richard.
