Having used nearly all of the books(Fitzmyer, Wright, Dunn, etc) mentioned
to date with students at various levels---and found them all well received
by students---I would add one more possibility: Charles Cousar's "The
Letters of Paul" (Abongdon, 1966). The first three chapters are on the
letters as letters, then one on Paul's churches, one that is an overview
of Paul's theology, and five on "theological themes" in the letters. The
last chapter deals with the disputed letters.
Otherwise, for a brief intro, I cast my vote with Wright for sheer
engagement by students.
