In reply to Liz about the sources in which Talbert finds the
descending-ascending redeemer:
Talbert finds these in non-canonical Jewish sources which are earlier than
Paul's writing. He cites Sirach 24; Baruch 3; Wisdom of Solomon 6-9; 2
Esdras 5 and 2 Baruch 48 for the descent of Wisdom as savior and the last 2
for its ascent. Then gives Wisdom of Solomon 9 and 18 and several
references from Philo as evidence for a many-named descending/ascending
redeemer. Talbert also cites many pre-Christian pagan sources which contain
similar myths.
Hope this is helpful.
