Dear Alexander,
An immediate response that you might give to my suggestions about 2
Corinthians 3 is that Exod 34:35 states that Moses wore the veil until he
returned to the presence of the Lord. If Moses were to keep up this
practice, he would indeed wear the veil until the end of his life. All I
can think is that Exodus 34 occurred in the midst of Moses' appearances
before the Lord on Sinai to receive the Law. So this would have been a time
of constant revelation and frequent presence before the Lord. Furthermore,
the revelation of God's glory at Sinai was unique, not exactly comparable
to His revelation of Himself during the rest of the wilderness wanderings.
So what occurred there and then was not necessarily the rule for other
times.
Yours,
Harold Holmyard
