I have not heard about Veitch, but the critics reminds me of
Hyam Maccoby's book on Paul "The Mythmaker" (if I recall
that right?). Maccoby follows Epiphanius' Panarion 30, where
Ebionites are said to have told about Paul, that he was not
a Jew. Maccoby regards the Ebionite sources more reliable
than the so called "orthodox" sources.

I am not at all convinced that Paul was a Pharisee, for
reasons I have written to the list some months (half a
year?) ago. But Jew he was, more certainly than a Christian!
