Jeffrey!

What follows represents my first, ROUGH draft of a mission statement for the
Journal. One thing I am trying to convey is the sense that this is an
authentic on-line journal, able to be more "daring" in its vision and more
timely in its publication schedule.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mission Statement

The Journal for Pauline Studies seeks to publish essays that make
significant scholarly contributions to the analysis and discussion of the
writings, teaching, theology and influence of the apostle Paul. Such
contributions may take not only the form of a discourse that represents the
culmination of an author's work on a topic, but also work that argues for a
broader vision of the contributions of the Apostle, or for the use of
methods not typically associated with the study of the pauline literature.

The Journal is intentionally electronic in presentation of the material it
publishes, and the editors are committed to rapid peer review and posting of
essays, books reviews, and reader responses that they receive. The Journal
should be understood by its users as a kind of forum, in which carefully
crafted arguments can be used as catalysts for extended, refereed rejoinders
in the form of essays, short papers, or position papers.

As a part of the world-wide medium of the internet, the Journal welcomes
contributions from scholars from around the world, whether working in an
institution of higher education or independently.
