Those of you who are presently embarking on teaching courses on Paul may
be interested to see the following which illustrates how how Dr.
Jennifer Maclean at Roanoke University has come up with a way of using
C-P as a teaching tool for her students. I think it is an ingenious
idea. Perhaps it is something that should be adopted elsewhere.

Yours,

Jeffrey

P.S. To all the Roanoke students, welcome.

Life & Teachings of Paul RELG 216A

Corpus Paulinum Weekly Summaries

Corpus Paulinum is a listserve dedicated to studying Paul, his
life, work, letters, and influence. All students in this course must
subscribe to the listserve, receive daily digests of the discussion,
and present in class one brief (5-7 minute) summary of a week's
discussion. The summary should:

1.briefly describe the different topics discussed
state the topic, your assessment of the heart of the
question discussed, and the resolution of the
question [if there is one]
do not repeat or summarize each person's
contribution to each topic
2. describe in more detail what you thought was the most
interesting or significant exchange of the week
state why this question/issue is important
briefly summarize the various positions taken on the
issue handout a copy of the most significant part of the
discussion (optional)

NOTE!! While you are in this class your
participation in this listserve will be limited to being
an "observer" of the discussion. You may not
respond to any questions posted or post your own
questions. The purpose of this assignment is to give
you a window into contemporary academic
discussion. Inappropriate contributions will
jeopardize our ability to subscribe to and learn from
the listserve.

Subscribing to Corpus Paulinum: Read the home page for
Corpus Paulinum, especially about subscribing and
unsubscribing. Then fill out the registration form on-line. I
suggest that you choose to receive a single message each day
with a digest of all messages posted. You should then receive
an introductory e-mail and beginning that day, the daily digests.

This course and web site were created by Jennifer K. Berenson Maclean.
