Reading recently Mark Nanos' _Mystery of Romans_, I came across his
claim that the EXOUSIAIS hUPERECHOUSAIS" spoken of in Rom 13:1 refers
not to Roman government officials as is usually supposed or argued, but
to synagogue authorities. I would take up the question of the validity
of this claim with Mark himself, as he is a subscriber to C-P. But he is
traveling at the moment and won't be back with us until the 21st or so.
In his absence then, can List members give me any indication of how this
claim is/has been received?
Yours,
Jeffrey Gibson
