[On the thread concerning "Arabia" and "Sinai" in Paul]

For a recent discussion about ancient traditions regarding the location of
Sinai, see the UPenn dissertation by Allen Kerkeslager,
<t>Jewish Pilgrimage and Jewish Identity in Hellenistic and Early Roman
Egypt</> (1997). I don't seem to have the abstract at hand, but I think
Allen argued that the most probable tradition for the location of the site
in that period was in the mountain range just south of the Dead Sea,
in the region of Petra. Some form of this material is also due to be
published soon, I think in a volume edited by David Frankfurter. I'll copy
this to Allen, in the event that he wishes to provide more detail.
