Ken Western:
The exchange below between Jon Talton and myself contains one of the
most arrogant, irresponsible statements a person in your profession has
ever made. A retraction hidden away in the "corrections" slot is not an
appropriate resolution of the matter.

I read the article just now. It's even worse than I suspected. In the
article, Jon makes this statement:
"Even so, the economy must produce 130,000 new jobs a month just to keep
up with the normal expansion of the population."

Instead of informing the public that the Administration was once again
misleading the public by hyping the facts, your reporter goes out of his
way to lend credence to such tactics.

Appalled,

ORIGINAL ARTICLE AT ISSUE:
More jobs may not fix what ails U.S. economy
By Jon Talton / Republic columnist
The surprising thing about the October employment report was not the
creation of 160,000 jobs, but that the turnaround took so long.

ORIGINAL COMMENT:
Hi, Jon: Won't read your article, as there is an obvious sloppiness
with your journalistic professionalism. Where do you come up with
160,000 new jobs created? What impression are you trying to leave with
your readers? Shame on you. And, shame on your editors. Isn't it about
time you journalists reminded yourselves that you serve to inform the
public, not treat them as serfs?
