Hi, Ian: Open Studios is tossing around the idea of a Playlist
contest. Contestants submit their favorite non-RIAA playlists (maybe an
hour or two of songs) and win a prize.

The playlists serve to provide screened playlists for webcasters. They
also provide seeding for web sites that index independent artists. They
will also provide seeding for web sites that index works licensed under
Creative Commons Project. Sites like dmusic.com get a better handle on
"clients" to offer their products. Stuff like that.

Question: Freenet capable of handling file sharing for tagged works
with the Creative Commons? Maybe, if folks put their non-RIAA files in
a particular directory, Freenet can find them? What we'd like to see,
is a product, if only for hype, that users could purchase that would
ensure them they are not downloading copyrighted RIAA files. We could
run it under a pilot program to see how it flies.

The issue of "poisoning" is handled by web sites that offer some token
level of screening, and with the tagging, users can confirm ownership
easily.

Anyway, if this is of interest, and you're willing to discuss it some, I
would be delighted to see what, if any, exposure to Freenet we can
generate with this contest idea.
Thanks,
Tom Poe
