Off! (http://www.myspace.com/off)
Trash Talk (http://www.myspace.com/trashtalkfu)
Local 506, Chapel Hill
I watched some Off! videos on Teh Internet -- they're pretty intense for a bunch of old dudes. Not as intense as Raleigh's own Double Negative, who also happen to be a bunch of old dudes, but don't require the conditional.
Glenn wants you to know that Double Negative are first, Off! second, and Trash Talk last.

The NC '90s recontextualized in an odder-than-usual fashion: San Fran freak-folkers Vetiver are fronted by Andy Cabic, who is from Greensboro & was in scruffy '90s indie-fuzz-poppers the Raymond Brake. And Johnny Irion (now forever the less-famous partner of Woody's granddaughter) was once in the Durham pop outfit Queen Sarah Saturday.

This is one of a series of shows booked by Craig Layabout this weekend to take advantage of the post-SXSW exodus of talent. Timmy Tumble is from out of town. Pinche Gringo is either a 1-man band or a 1-man, 1-woman band or occasionally a 3-piece. Trompo Loco is Stephen from the Wigg Report going all solo on us. He'll improvise a killer birthday song for you.

Superhumanoids (http://www.myspace.com/superhumanoidsss)

The Body
Whitehorse (http://www.getonthehorse.blogspot.com/)
Motorco Music Hall, Durham
Yeah, it's sort of a dream come true, having a venue within walking distance of my house that'll book crazy-ass heavy Providence RI bands. Also, apparently Whitehorse are from Australia, which is, yeah, still kind of a novelty.

Richard Buckner (http://www.richardbuckner.com/)
Sebadoh (http://www.sebadoh.com/)
Cat's Cradle, Carrboro
Have I ever seen Sebadoh? You'd think it would've been inevitable but I'm not sure I ever did. Loved those early albums, though.
The thing about Richard Buckner is that at some point in the past half-dozen/dozen years he got bored with just being that singer-songwriter guy with the really distinctive voice, and he started morphing into that singer-songwriter guy who lays down massive gorgeous sheets of guitar noise and then scatters the songs in amongst it. I've absolutely loved the last couple of times I've seen him.
