Hi, there's some touring European bands playing in Chapel Hill tonight
that are supposed to be very good, here's some info:

TONIGHT @ ILE DE BLOODMOUTH, 8:30-midnight::::

KOONDA HOLAA
"It's surprising that despite countless notable collaborations with the
likes of The Residents, Mike Watt and Steve Mackay, Exena Cervenka of
X, Lydia Lunch, Amps for Christ, and USAisaMonster, the one-man band
Koonda Holaa is still shrouded in relative obscurity amongst American
audiences. But ask anyone who's seen him, and they usually have an
insane/hilarious story to tell about this guy. His latest record, Ten
Thousand Acres of the Finest Sand, on Italy's Bar La Muerte is a
phenomenal addition to his songbook of desert noir psychadelic rock.
Imagine a shamanic chief of some cargo cult that's developed a
ritualistic fetish for Ennio Morricone, Krautrock, and Stoner Metal.

HEADWAR
"French quartet Headwar shreds through rock band archetypes with junk
store horns and altered plastic toys to bring a unique and intense
take on Skingraft records-style Noiserock, but through a more epic and
dramatic approach. Listen for hints of early Swans and Einsturzende
Neubauten coming through the gargling vocals and power tools
clattering against guitar strings. Their songs operate less as
hook-laiden tunes and more as invocations of a violent trance state."

JOHN MAKAY
"The second of the French bands, John Makay may be more upbeat than
their tour partners but no less impassioned. This guitar/drums two
piece play mostly instrumental songs that hearken back to 90's
post-rock but equally influenced by prog and jazz. This band has
tremendous power and perform with an immense ferocity, love and
sincerity for their music. They make it a point to declare they use
no loops or samples in their live execution, priding themselves on
athletic feat."
