Hey folks!

Gentle Robot and Lost Trail (the new solo project of Zach from Pointless
Forest).. sort of God Speed You Black Emperor.. Also, special shout out for
tomorrow night's Pre-Thanksgiving Party! Nightlight is hosting a Magazine
Release party for the new "Cuke & Sew"- a local foodie diy culture
magazine.. Food at 7pm, music and dancing at 9 PM. Plus, special DJ Heather
Wilson will be rocking it all night!

We are closed this Wed. and Thursday for Thanks-DAY and then will be back
open on Friday for a killer FREQUENC DANCE PARTY!

Plus, advanced tickets are now available for the Dan Melchior / Fabulous
Diamonds and Pigeons show! See our website for details..

Thanks and luv,
Nightlight!

*Mon 11/22 Gentle Robot / Lost Trail (members of Pointless Forest) - more
bands tba : 9:30 PM : $3 *

Soothing jazz/folk-inflected Chapel Hill newcomers Gentle Robot headline
this night with the cinematic ambient'n'piano music from Lost Trail, the
Hillsborough half of local post-rock duo Pointless Forest. In the vein of
Budd and Eno as well as tons of millennial drama/horror films, Lost Trail is
not to be missed.

*Tues 11/23 New Magazine Release Party for Cuke &
Sew<http://cukeandsew.wordpress.com/>!! Food at 7 PM: Music at 9 PM
*

with live music by Bermuda
Triangles<http://www.myspace.com/bermudatriangles>(Richmond /
ex-Silver Ninjas) / Tate House (1/2 of Caves/Caverns)... Plus,
DJ Heather Wilson throughout the night!

*There will be food and raffles at 7pm with music at 9 pm. Issues can be
purchased for $4 *

Richmond manic rhythmic electronoise troupe Bermuda Triangles sound like a
ritalin-addled go-go Konono No. 1 with loose-connection crackling noise
riffage. One half of the spazz-surf drone rockers Caves Caverns opens as
Tate House.

*Wed 11/24 & Thurs 11/25 Closed for Thanksgiving! *

*Fri 11/26 FrequeNC Records Presents...Sex
Worker<http://www.myspace.com/xsexworkerx>(members of Mi
Ami <http://www.myspace.com/miamiamiami> (Thrill Jockey) / Psychic
Reality<http://www.myspace.com/realitypsychic>/ Sagan
Youth Boys <http://lmgrovllum.org/sybss.html> (Philip Maier's new project) /
DJ Nasty Boots! : $6
*

As the voice behind experimental dance-punk groups Black Eyes and Mi Ami,
Daniel Martin-McCormick reaffirms the lessons Prince taught us about the
falsetto voice: you don't have to sound like Barry White or Isaac Hayes to
absolutely ooze sexual charm. As Sex Worker, Martin-McCormick backs that
high-pitched croon-shriek with electronic beats and overlapping synth lines.
Fresh off a "girls only" tour with LA Vampires and Inca Ore, Leyna Noel of
Psychic Reality brings her haze-vocal stuttered-drum machine synth-drone
murk to the Nightlight. FrequeNC head Nasty Boots keeps the night popping on
the ones and twos.

*Sat 11/27 Robobilly <http://www.myspace.com/robobilly/music/playlists> !
more bands tba.. *

Literate, militantly P.A.-free folk collective Robobilly will headline this
evening and invite you to come holler along.

*Tues 11/30 Dan Melchior und das Menace <http://www.myspace.com/dasmenace> /
Fabulous Diamonds <http://www.myspace.com/fabulousdiamonds> (Siltbreeze
Records / Melbourne) / Pigeons- 9:30 PM : $5 /
advance<https://www.etix.com/ticket/servlet/onlineSearch;jsessionid=F5D6AF734889B4019AC894BA9D480F56?action=displayPerformance&pageNumber=0&pageSize=10&searchType=venue&queryString=action%3dvenueSearch%26venue_id%3d7384%26searchType%3dvenue>or
$7 at the door
*

Durham's own post-punk/garage colour commentator Dan Melchior plays the part
of the just man raging in the wilds of international music circles. With Das
Menace, he makes it a rocking good time to hear-- pick up his new disc on
S-S if you haven't already. In addition to DM&DM, two more WXYC favorites
are coming into town: Melbourne, Australia's hypnotic electric psych-drone
duo Fabulous Diamonds (Siltbreeze recs) join Paris, France's psych-pop/rock
duo Pigeons (ex-Sea Donkeys, OESB recs) to round the evening. Any one of
these bands could headline the show, so it's a real treat to get a bill this
stacked for only $7. Come on down!

Coming up!

*early Wed 12/01* Open Old Time Jam!! 5-8:30 PM :: FREE::

Every 1st Wednesday of the month Nightlight hosts this free jam!

Bring yer' instruments to play or come on down to listen and grab a beer!

*Thurs 12/02* 919 Noise Showcase <http://www.myspace.com/919noise>:: 9:30 PM
::$5

Weathers Glover <http://www.myspace.com/pacificbeforetiger> / Electric
Cactus & Weather Machine <http://www.myspace.com/919weathermachine> / Boat
Burning <http://www.myspace.com/919weathermachine>

GSO experimental kid genius Andrew Weathers has been performing at the
Nightlight since his teens, playing guitar, drums, and electronics under his
own name as well as his solo-project-slash-fluctuating-combo Pacific Before
Tiger. In one of those combo incarnations, fellow Gate City experimenter
Austin Glover handled the reeds and deeds as the Marshall Allen to Weathers'
H.P. Blount. From the ambient drones and circuit-bent squiggles currently
featured on Glover's site, I'm guessing the Weathers-Glover duo is going to
be working more in the electronic realm, but we'll see. As Electric Cactus,
Julion Fols creates off-the-fly bass and vocal loops and then drums the hell
out of them. Weather Machine is the sound of climate change through the
ambient electronics of Bryce Eiman and Joe Hendrix. The local rock
chameleons who have been Television cover band Amps Do Furnish a Room and
old-school NC garage cover band Thee Dirtybeats play icy-hot psych improv as
Boat Burning.

*Fri 12/03* North Elementary <http://www.myspace.com/northelementary> / Gray
Young <http://www.myspace.com/919weathermachine> /
Wages<http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wages/161805726216>(Asheville) /
Nathan & Patrick (Winston-Salem) : 9:30 PM: $6

Local indie rock pillars North Elementary headline this evening featuring
Gray Young, a fantastic Raleigh band that's creating some of the best
"pretty" post-rock around and getting lots of attention for it. Asheville
psych-poppers Wages have a Spacemen 3 vibe with enough twang to remind me of
fellow travelers Beachwood Sparks, but singer Nick Campbell's Elliott
Smith-style haunting croon is the real ringer in this band. Nathan and
Patrick roll down from Forsyth Co. to open.

Sat 12/04 Xiu Xiu <http://www.myspace.com/xiuxiuforlife> (experimental set)
/ dj Skull Vomit <http://www.myspace.com/djskullvomit> (Tony from
Eustachian) / Cheezface <http://www.myspace.com/cheezfacemusic> / The
Ex-Monkeys <http://www.myspace.com/theexmonkeys> - 9:30 PM :: $6
Here's a local noise night that's sure to have some danceable moments thrown
in for good measure. As Xiu Xiu, Jamie Stewart has spent the past nine years
creating some of the most remarkable off-kilter experimental pop songs
around. Tonight, he'll cut loose and we'll hear some more of the
experimental side of his sound. One half of Florida/California/Belgium duo
Eustachian rocks as horror-noise/power-grindcore behemoth dj Skull Vomit.
This dude goes so hard, it will be impossible not to dance to this. Fellow
noise/grindcore melder Cheezface and Raleigh electro-turntablists The
Ex-Monkeys open.
