=95 8P Michael Daughtry (singer/songwriter)
Michael Daughtry is a singer/songwriter from North Carolina. He
started having the songwriting =93bug=94 when he would hum gibberish (but
great tunes!) at around four years old. He played piano growing up. He
won several music competitions through his school years. He wanted
drums at fifteen but got a funky Hawaiian organ instead. The curse was
a blessing since he could write songs and loop melodies against each
other. He first picked up the guitar at age seventeen. Michael played
keys, guitar, and bass for various bands. He attended Berklee College
of Music in the late 90=92s where he won a singer/songwriter showcase.
He remained in Boston for a few years after graduating to play in
various bands in that area. His current songs reflect the trials and
joys of life. The songs drive with syncopated rhythm that is both
refreshing and familiar simultaneously. Great songs should be shared.
He hopes that these songs will provide enjoyment for years to come.
They sound even better live!

=95 10P The Verge (blues/indie/rock)
The Verge is a band from Durham NC, that formed in November 2006. We
play a combination of Rock, Blues, and Indie and write most of what we
play.

Friday, November 5

=95 8P Scott Dameron and Jay Ladd V (folk/singer/songwriter)
Scott Dameron and Jay Ladd fall comfortably in the mold of the new
=93singer/songwriter=94. Accomplished musicians, singers, and lyricists,
their sound is a mixture of new/fast-folk, americana, pop, and any
other trendy genre that includes acoustic-based, thoughtfully written,
and melody-driven music. Jay Ladd=92s dynamic and emotive voice, as well
as his stylish keyboard playing, perfectly seams and connects with
Scott Dameron=92s acoustic guitar, which can be rhythmic and percussive,
but also melodic and soulful.

Scott Dameron and Jay Ladd were fatefully forced together as college
roommates years ago, and a strong musical connection soon began. After
years of writing and playing shows throughout North Carolina, as well
as working on individual projects, the duo has finally recorded their
first CD together, and it will be released in August, 2010. =93Walker
904A=94 is a collection of 13 songs written by Scott Dameron and/or Jay
Ladd, which speaks to everyday life and the twists and turns of our
existence (with a catchy melody!). Produced by the award-winning
engineer, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter Chris Rosser,
http://www.chrisrosser.com, at is Hollow Reed Arts Studio in
Asheville, =93Walker 904A=94 also includes guest appearances by legendary
Western North Carolina singer/songwriter David LaMotte, http://www.davidlam=
otte.com,
as well as Oregon=92s own award-winning songwriter, and amazing singer,
Beth Wood, http://www.bethwoodmusic.com.

=95 10P Great Big Gone (twangy porch picking finger licking roots
rocking western swinging honky tonking Americana)
Great Big Gone is a group of Triangle music veterans brought together
by a passion for the many facets of American roots music. They were
all members of the recently disbanded Brown Mountain Lights, a band
that played regularly around the Triangle and the Southeast. Great Big
Gone continues in the same style. Their repertoire is a carefully-
crafted amalgam of styles from electrified porch picking and honky
tonk to blues to Western Swing to roots rock, consisting primarily of
original compositions. The result is a tasty mix of sharp songwriting,
three-part harmonies and a classic Americana musical palette. They
have just released =93Threadbare Heart=94 in July 2008.

Janet Place contributes the lead vocals and songwriting talents. She
was a member of the seminal D.C. alt-country band, The Slim Jims,
before moving to NC in 1995 and forming the bluesy roots band, The
Kickbacks, and then the Brown Mountain Lights. No Depression magazine
wrote that =93Janet Place=92s voice, reminiscent of a huskier Patsy
Cline ... drips with country hard luck and hard-won wisdom.=94

Greg Bower tosses in =93high lonesome=94 harmonies and requisite guitar
twang, and an increasing number of tasty original songs. Greg has
played in several NC-based acts, including power popsters Bullwinkle
Gandhi, the late lamented soul combo Balooka Roux, and the honky tonk
Panther Branch Boys. He gushed enthusiastically about the nascent
Triangle alt-country scene as a writer for the Independent in the
mid-90s.

Mitch Renkow is the newest addition to our family. He plays regularly
with many folks around the Triangle, most notibly with the Off the
Road Band.

Bryan Sodemann=92s tasteful drumming provides the heartbeat for the
band, and he can also be found in Full Moon Pie.

Bass player extraordinaire Steve Webster rounds out the rhythm
section, and he has also played in many bands including The Hanks and
the legendary Day Room Monitors.

=95 8P String Peddlers (blues/world)
We are an acoustic music group from Raleigh, NC. We play a mix of
traditional, blues, and world music on a variety of instruments.
Without missing a beat, it could go from Johnny Cash to Jimmy Reed to
the Melodians.

=95 10P The Hwy 54Band (rock/blues/folk rock)
The band was started in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, North Carolina in 2006.
Originally a blues band, HYW54's sound is now a concoction of Blues,
Folk and Rock. For the last year the band has been working to develop
an original sound using material written by different band members.

=95 4:30P BSC Kids!
It's FUN and it's FREE! (tips are greatly appreciated)
Come to the Broad Street Cafe on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month
(October thru March) and enjoy some great entertainment that's
designed for kids but that's guaranteed to be fun for all ages.

Mother Goose
Mother Goose shares fun and music from Dr. Laura Janelle Royster=92 s, I
Feel Better With Music, a wellness program with a three CD set of
music designed for preschoolers and their parents. She teaches using
children=92 s educational theatre techniques for energizing, relaxing,
and healthy behaviors while using a hands-on approach with musical
instruments and movement. Guest musicians from the CD often pop by.
Everyone
participates! Come play, sing, dance, and blow your troubles away with
bubbles!

Dr. Laura Janelle Royster has appeared as Mother Goose in children=92 s
educational theatre productions and music events from New York to
Miami. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at the
University of North Carolina (UNC), studied Shakespeare in England,
and Children=92 s Educational Theatre at New York University. She has
her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the School of
Education at UNC with a focus on Arts in Education. Her three CD set
of music for I Feel Better With Music is made up of a wealth of local
and nationally known musicians that helped to develop the educational-
based material and music using styles from Bluegrass and authentic
North Carolina Hokum to Pop and Techno. Her educational philosophy is
that learning should be fun!

=95 7:30P - Sunday Night Jazz Series
Fusion Collective (jazz/fusion/lounge)
Steeped in (but not limited to) a traditional jazz repertoire, Fusion
Collective South has featured several Triangle-based jazz musicians;
but similar to its northern parent (Fusion Collective =93North=94), it
maintains its core members. While inspired by the original Fusion
Collective, FCS has taken on an identity all its own. More recently,
FCS has featured more funk/fusion/contemporary tunes, with the
intention of having a more modern and vibrant sound.

FCS is fronted by sax-man Josh Mobley, a young =96gun who blazes through
solos with tenacity and ferocity, but also plays tenderly to the
various ballads FCS features in its repertoire. Josh features
primarily the alto sax, but also heavily features the tenor sax, as
well.

Guitarist Mike Miller comes to us via the swing-blues-soul-R&B band,
Mighty Lester. Mike has been a musician for more than 35 years.
Musical influences range from rock icons The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix
to jazz legends Wes Montgomery and Thelonious Monk. Of special
interest are experimental/avant garde/progressive musicians such as
Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, and Bill
Frisell.

Founding member/bassist Sean Geist has been playing electric bass
nearly 30 years. He has studied (and/or attended master sessions/
clinics) with a who=92s who of bassists: Jerry Jemmott, Mike Frost,
Chuck Alder, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Chuck Rainey, Matt Garrison,
Oteil Burbridge, and many others. He has also been featured in local
bands Mighty Lester, Retro Buzzkill, and the MPS Trio.
