=95 8P Catie King (pop/acoustic)
Hailing from her stomping grounds of Raleigh, North Carolina, Catie
King grew up listening to music constantly; saturated in sound and
instrumentation. Taking piano lessons in her early childhood years,
Catie began sneaking into her brother's room when he wasn't home to
play his guitar. Catie quickly learned the basics by following the
chord and string notes that were placed in a guitar lesson book. These
experiences inspired Catie to produce her innovative, blended sound of
Rock-Acoustic. Influenced heavily by indust ry mainstreams who include
Colbie Caillat, John Mayer, Secondhand Serenade, Michelle Branch and
Ryan Cabrera, Catie creates lyric-driven music that is stripped to its
simplest form. Her music conveys an introspective message that defines
her personal feelings, emotions and experiences as a eighteenteen-year-
old young woman and artist. Presently, Catie is in the studio with
mega producer, Dick Hodgins, recording tracks for her debut EP.
Inspired by Bethany Dillon, an nineteen-year-old singer songwriter,
Catie King finds comfort and solace in creating records that are
complex in content, and yet simple enough to be relatable to the
masses.

Though Catie has not embarked upon any local or global tours to
promote her music, she has taken center stage, performing as an
opening act for various, headlining groups and bands. In 2007, Catie
also reached a plateau in her up and coming career by taking second
place in the U-turn Last Band Standing competition. Catie soon will
attend college to study the dynamics of the industry, by dual majoring
in music and business. With a soul of determination, and a life
complete with undying support, Catie King will carve a niche on the
music scene as a singer, songwriter, and true inspiration of her
generation.

=95 10P James Scott Bullard & The Late Night Sweethearts (country/alt
country/country rock)
With a past steeped in love, loss, death, addiction, human suffering,
torrid tales of flirting with the devil, the wrath of deep south
religion, more southern-gothic lore than a Tennessee Williams play and
a constant walk on a moral tightrope, James Scott Bullard=92s songs
reflect not just his own life, but real life.
He has won several awards for his efforts, collected a mass amount
of glowing critical reviews, and had much written about his prolific
songwriting and troubled past.
His songs have hit well over 20 million downloads across the
internet ocean and he has gained worldwide attention due to massive
airplay spanning the entire globe.

THE LATE NIGHT SWEETHEARTS: Chapel Hill-area musicians Dana Trantham
(bass guitar), George Shepherd (lead guitar), and Bruce Wassel
(percussion) have performed recently as the "Persons of Interest"
band. Prior to that they played in the popular "Marla Vickers Band".
Thomas Moorefield (pedal steel guitar, lap steel, and resonator
guitar) was joined by Dana in the Gram Parsons tribute band "Sleepless
Nights". Thomas has played and recorded with several Chapel Hill
bands, including "Shakermaker", "Birds and Arrows", and "Schooner".

=95 10P The Deluge (country/alt country/bluegrass)
Formed in 2008, this vocally dynamic and musically diverse group
features Brandon Knox on harmonica and vocals, Chris Lord on guitar,
John Holder on bass, Shane Lee on guitar and vocals, Josh Tench on
drums, and James Bernabe on mandolin and vocals. These musicians have
shared the stage with many of the top artists in music over the past
decade, including a recent opener for Sam Bush Band in August 2009 for
a packed downtown Greensboro, NC crowd.

Blending old time mountain music, country, bluegrass, swing, soul, and
jazz, the Deluge's unique sound captures the essences of many musical
styles.

All members of this group are experienced musicians familiar with the
city streets and country highways that connect the many live music
venues of the Carolinas and surrounding states. The Deluge have put
what they have learned about music and life into a new experience, for
both listener and performer.

=95 11P Dark Water Rising (alt/indie/rock)
The band name, Dark Water Rising, originates from the home of its
members. Robeson County, known for its rich Lumbee culture, thrives
from the nourishment of swamplands and rich, dark water of the Lumber
River. The dark watered swamps are legendary for providing hide outs
and escape routes for Lumbee outlaws during the Civil War.

Lead singer, Charly Lowry has endured the music world since she began
singing at the tender age of 4. Over the years she attained local
success winning various beauty pageants, talent shows, and showcases.
Thereafter she had the opportunity to perform on the wildly popular
show American Idol. Charly qualified as a semi-finalist among the last
32 competitors amongst millions of potential contestants in the fall
of 2004.

In the summer of 2006, Charly and college friend/producer, Aaron
Locklear created a small independent label, GreenSky Records. Lowry
was able to gain local and regional success with the release if her
first EP entitled, "BrownSkin". After touring with her EP, Charly
quickly realized she needed the full expression of a live band to
release the sound from within.

Now at the age of 25, Lowry and Locklear have carefully pieced
together Dark Water Rising to express a sound and free spirit that
embraces several genres of music including soul, blues, country, hip
hop, gospel, and rock. "Our music has never fit into any one category
alone. We don't quite fit the mold of most other bands along the East
Coast," explains Locklear. Reminiscent of 70's and 80's bands such as
Fleetwood Mac and Heart, Dark Water Rising too stands behind a
talented female lead singer.

After a stint on the road and burst of song creativity in 2008, Dark
Water Rising has finally hit the studio to record their debut album.
The first single released "Same Old Thing" expresses the emotional
exhaustion of consistently losing a loved one to work, military
leaves, etc. week in and week out. The song has a rich blend of
acoustic/electric guitars; a foot stomping beat muscled by a deep bass
line, and is topped off with soulful vocals.

Lyrically Dark Water Rising explores all themes of life, whether it is
love, heartbreak, sacrifice, celebration, despair, or pain; all the
while expressing their sentiment on the recognition of the Lumbee
People. Dark Water Rising is a sincere group, not a prepackaged act,
which writes and composes directly from the soul. GreenSky Records
invites everyone to join the movement of the Dark Water Rising.

=95 8P Ken Larson Trio (jazz/swing/bossa)
The KLT consists of Ken Larson on guitar, Lex Larson on bass and Todd
Gambling percussion/vocals. KTL focuses on mid-20th century
traditional Jazz with an emphasis on Bossa. Favorite composers
include: Jobim, Miles, Ellington, Mingus.

=95 10P Kelly and the Cowboys (country/rockabilly/swing)
"Hailing from the foothills of NC, Kelley and The Cowboys harness a
sound that is staunchly rooted in the classic country music of the
1950s and 1960s. As they masterfully cover a number of country and
Americana classics--think Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Sr., Loretta Lynn
and Elvis Presley--the group simultaneously operates within and
reinvigorates the early country music tradition. Led by the powerful,
iron-clad vocals of Kelley Breiding, the group is a rousing nostalgic
throwback to timeless country, honky-tonk, western swing, and
rockabilly genres." (Ithaca Times 2009) Since forming in 2005, Kelley
and The Cowboys have been performing a variety of early country
standards, heart wrenching ballads, rockabilly numbers, waltzes,
upbeat originals, and exciting instrumentals that keep the dance floor
packed. Kelley and The Cowboys have been playing festivals and clubs
all over the east coast, and officially caused a popular club to sell
out of beer for the first time last year! But, this type of frenzy is
really no surprise; this act has amazing musicianship and an energetic
love for the music that always infects the crowd. How do they do it?
With Kelley's mesmerizing vocals and barn burner attitude, the
swinging tag team of guitar and fiddle, thrilling feats on the upright
bass, and the nostalgic sound of dueling arch-top guitars. When you
pair all this with a relentless dance beat, it's a real dream for
those who are out to scoot their boots. Each of these musicians have
been immersed in music and it's early country roots for most, or all,
of their lives, giving them a nostalgic feel to their music that just
can=92t be found in the music of today. Kelley and the Cowboys have
recently recorded their debut album and are excited about it's
upcoming release.

Sunday, October 24
