hey ch-scene!
do you dig rock n' roll? do you like explosions? are you a fan of grillin'
out and cold beverages?
c'mon over to the layabout (aka 2702 lawndale ave. in durham) this 4th of
july - be a patriot and patronize a house show!!
the good folks at scion garageshow and myself are proud to present:
NOBUNNY (Oakland, CA) "Nobunny played... he was hands down the sexiest thing
we'd seen" - viceland.com / "It was disgusting, totally disgusting, and more
than a little creepy" - Paste Magazine / "Nobunny has released a rip-roaring
good-times party album that comes on like the illegitimate offspring of the
Archies, Joey Ramone, Hasil Adkins and Kim Fowley" - LA Times. New LP on
Goner Records comin' soon!! http://myspace.com/nobunnylovesyou
SPIDER BAGS (Chapel Hill) In the past year or so these guys have released
badass 7"s on local labels Bull City and Odessa Records and have an upcoming
7" on Churchkey...All after recording one of the best LP's of 2009, 'Goodbye
Cruel World, Hello Crueler World' (Birdman) of which the dudes at Pitchfork
said "it's been an awful long time since you've heard a band pull off this
sort of southern-fried slop-pop with such charm, craftiness, and
self-deprecating wit." http://myspace.com/spiderbags
PINCHE GRINGO (Greensboro) Josh is Pinche Gringo. He sometimes plays as a
true one-man-band, sometimes he plays drums/guitar (simultaneously) with
some help from one of his buddies on 2nd guitar. Pinche plays some goddamn
RAW garage/punk/blues/whatever - messed-up, creepy and totally catchy. God
bless America (and Mexico)! http://myspace.com/pinchegringoband
THE HUMMS (Athens, GA) "are a 3-piece rock and roll band from Athens, GA
that are well known throughout the area thanks to their loud and bizarre
shows featuring everything from sex toys to strobe lights, but most
importantly their grooving blend of Psychedelic music mixed with some old
records and magazines you would find under your fathers bed."

+++ most likely there will be yet another great band - i'll let y'all know
just who it is as the show draws closer...!.
hangin' starts at around 6PM, bands start by 8...but if you c'mon over early
you can grill out (veggie-friendly and meat-friendly grills) and set off
fireworks with us!!! some free PBR and most likely some veggie dogs will be
available for earlybirds!!
otherwise, it's BYOB, $6 requested donation (an all-american BARGAIN for 5
bands! please support the two AMAZING touring bands and remember to bring $6
cash or whatever you can spare!) and if you want meat for the grill - bring
that... i'm probably only buying some veggie dogs/burgers! yup, i'm a pansy.
i have a stash of fireworks (procured on my last trip through lovely s.
carolina) but bring some of those too if you've got 'em!!
can't wait!!!
