=95 8P Chris Bryant - The 2010 Discovery Series
Middle school teacher by day, singer/songwriter by night, singer/
songwriter by night, Chris Bryant approaches varied genres and subject
matter with soulful honesty. It doesn't matter if he's singing about
love, love lost, social responsibility or having fun at a party - when
Chris sings, people listen. And when they listen, they believe him.
In 2010, Chris is playing a special series of shows at the Broad
Street Cafe. Each month, he'll play a 45-50 minute set of music from
an artist, band, or genre that's been influential or inspirational to
his musical development. He'll follow that up with a 45-50 minute set
of his own material. January's featured artist is Ben Harper. To

=95 10P Bull City Syndicate (funk/rock/jam band)
No other band from the Carolinas, or the entire Mid-Atlantic region
for that matter, dares attempt the intricate fusion of rhythm-section
funk, 4-horn firepower, and soaring vocals this band throws down each
time they play live.
Featuring the Bull City Horns on their front line, Bull City Syndicate
has been building a loyal and ever-growing following for over fifteen
years - featured not only at the top area restaurants and clubs, but
also statewide at music festivals, colleges, weddings, private and
corporate parties, as well as many local and national charity events.
Saturday, June 12
=95 8P Battle Not With Monsters (folk rock/acoustic/indie)
Battle Not With Monsters is a duet consisting of old childhood friends
that perform acoustic rock. Singer-songwriters Patrick Blackburn and
Philip Hollingsworth continually focus on providing meaningful songs
that express the creative and recreative nature of artistic
expression. The two were formally in a punk rock cover band which
specialized in the music of the 1960s. The duo that makes up Battle
Not With Monsters continues to embrace the joys of performing with a
purpose.
=95 10P West Trinity (blues/rock)
West Trinity plays the kind of raw bluesy rock that spans from the
Piedmont to Picadilly Square. Free from synthesizers, samplers and
drum machines, the music of West Trinity is centered around barbaric
tribal drumbeats and biting guitar, with soaring vocals and thoughtful
composition. This show marks the release of West Trinity=92s first CD,
=93Illuminatus=94, on Ferocidi Records.
Grayson Currin, from the The Independent writes, =93West Trinity (is) a
new Durham four-piece that quotes classical music within its vaguely
spectral blues-rock anthems. A little like light Deep Purple Cream,
West Trinity builds electric washes beneath Therese Honeycutt's
incensed voice.=94
Come on out for what promises to be a great party and show!
Sunday, June 13
=95 7:30P The JazzTones (jazz/blues/swing)
The JazzTones sextet plays mainstream jazz in the styles of the 50's
and 60's. Behind the sultry vocals of Alice Brower, the Jazztones
cover tunes ranging from standards, to swing, blues, latin and bebop.
It's members come from the greater Hillsborough, North Carolina area.
