Hey folks -

This weekend we've got not one but TWO nights of house shows here in Durham!

So c'mon over to Layabout House (aka 2702 Lawndale Ave. near Hillsborough
Rd.) this Friday and/or Sunday night!!

On FRIDAY, 2/12 at 9PM we've got...

SPIDER BAGS probably need no introduction - this will be their THIRD (!!!)
time playing here at the house, edging up on Reid from Schooner for the
title of "Most 2702 Lawndale House Show Appearances." They're one of the
best live bands in the Triangle or anywhere and their LP from last year
"Goodbye Cruel World, Hello Crueler World" (Birdman Recs.) was amongst my
favroites of '09!

THE WEIGHT are an NYC (by way of GA) beer-soaked big country-rock band with
classic rock tendencies - think The Band (duh), Rolling Stones, Gram
Parsons, Uncle Tupelo, etc. Their most recent LP "The Weight Are Men" came
out on the always awesome The Colonel Records a lil while back.

THE FOX HUNT (from their website) "meld the bright harmonies and acoustic
instruments characteristic of early country/folk with rough, smoky, rock and
roll lyrics and arrangements." On tour from W. Virginia!

THE GODDAMN RATTLESNAKE are also NYC-based and share some members with The
Weight. They play some sweet banjo/mandolin/fiddle driven country-folk. Lots
of drinkin' and heartbreak, lots of great harmonies!

Then on SUNDAY, 2/14 (Valentine's Day!!) we'll be having a more low-key
solo-act-style show with...

JASON ANDERSON (on tour!) has recorded many records for the legendary K
Records label under his own name and under the moniker Wolf Colonel. He's a
way-talented dude, and consequently he's also played in LOTS of K family
bands - The Microphones/Mt. Eerie, Calvin Johnson & the Sons of the Soil,
Mirah, The Blow, Little Wings, etc. etc. ETC! His newest solo LP 'The
Hopeful & the Unafraid' has echos of classic Bruce and the E-Street
Band...can't wait to see how he pulls it off solo/live!

CASSIS ORANGE will be playing a special mini-set of Valentine's day cover
songs!! Normally Cassis Orange is Autumn and Tres but for this show Autumn
will be treating us to some solo covers for sweethearts and brokenhearts...
You may remember her from her old band The Ex-Lovers (who played a rad set
here at the house 2 yrs ago!) or her old solo project Owl Eyes (aka Owl-Eyed
Allies)

Both shows are B.Y.O.B. (but if you show up early you'll likely get some
free PBR!) and they both have a recommended minimum donation of five bucks.
You can park curbside on my block or at the parking lot on Lawndale and
Hillsborough Rd.

P.S. LOTS more fun in store this spring! House shows galore!!!
