Global non-profit IntraHealth International is launching a major campaign out of Chapel Hill to raise funds and awareness for the IntraHealth OPEN initiative, a program created to address the most critical health issues in Africa by putting the latest open source technologies directly in the hands of health workers.

The campaign's first step is the roll out the release of a charity album in partnership with Grammy Award-winning artist Youssou N’Dour. The album titled “OPEN Remix” features remixes of N’Dour’s song “Wake Up – It’s Africa Calling” by Nas, Peter Buck of R.E.M., Duncan Sheik, Toubab Krewe with DJ Equal and Umar Bin Hassan of the Last Poets, Afrissippi, Beef Wellington, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Gavin Hardkiss, Swamburger and other headline artists and is being released by major distributors including Rhapsody, iLike and Amazon MP3 as free downloads - a global remix contest will be launched with Indaba Music in April.

Executive producer is Heather LaGarde better known locally as coordinator of the Saxapahaw Rivermill Music Series - the producer is Aaron Keane of Blazing Music and Sound in Raleigh and Brent Lambert at Kitchen Mastering mastered the release. All artists, engineers, studios, mastering, labels, distribs, graphic design, web development, advertising etc worked pro bono on the project.
