Ha... I must admit, we robbed the subject of this email from Stones
Throw. The propaganda was just too creative not to "recycle". With
that said... get out and vote before next Tuesday !!!

Yea... we know, this is the night after Halloween festivities...
Save your stamina. This is a night of music you won't want to miss!

7 Samurai has left his "HOME" in Austria, to visit our "HOM".
Promoting his new release, "El Mundo Nuevo" - is a compilation of the
highest standards, features efforts from the world's top musicians.
Come join us for an evening of intelligent soundz from one of the
finest producer/DJ across the globe.

Check the bio/album review below...

7 Samurai

7 Samurai are Marc Frank and Tom Wieland (Ex-Les Gammas, Dubben,
Panoptikum, Mokadi...), DJ´s, musicians, producer and most of
all sincere music lovers.! Besides their producer skills, the 7
Sam´s travel the world as DJ´s with gigs in clubs like
"Nublu"/ NYC, "Raw Fusion"/Stockholm, "Plastic people"/London and
others. They´ve released seven (sic!) 12"´s under the
pirate soul flag on the highly acclaimed G.A.M.M. and mixed the "Poets
Dub"-compilation for Poets Club Records, featuring tracks from the
label catalog (incl. some rare remixes by the likes of Brian Eno and
Stereotyp) plus an exclusive 7 Samurai tune: "Feel the same", a
collaboration track with Desmond Foster who has also hosted the
compilation. Tastemakers love the 7 Sam´s and so their tunes get
regular airplay on Gilles Petersons "worldwide show" and many other
freestyle radio shows around the world (Soulsearching, Jazzanova
radio show, Ennio Styles etc.). And now it's about time to go even
further... the 7 Samurai are on their way.

"El Mundo Nuevo"

"El Mundo Nuevo" is the very first and long awaited album by the
Bavarian pirate soul kings 7 Samurai! After several releases on the
highly acclaimed G.A.M.M. label with more than 30.000 sold 12"s,
outstanding remixes, DJ gigs all over the world and their great "Poets
Dub" mix compilation last year, it´s time for a full length 7
Samurai album. "El Mundo Nuevo" is a killer collection of tracks,
collaborations and outstanding remixes by 7 Samurai. The album
includes their mix for the rare Jorge Ben joint „Sou da pesada" and
the unreleased remix for the latin-lounge don´s Mo'Horizons.

But as 7 Samurai are real diggers (and not only out for big names...)
you can find more rare and obscure collabos on the album, e.g. with
the french soundtrack composer Janko Nilovic, Peruvian funksters Otto
de Rojas and the Italian jazz combo Idea 6. „El Mundo Nuevo" also
offers many new 7 Samurai tracks. Their lovely take on Inner Circles
lost reggae unclassic "Jah Music", featuring the vocal talents of
Gilles Peterson fave Alicia "Blue Eyez" Smith (Dwele, Jamiroquai
backing singer), takes you straight to funky Kingston... with Blue
Eyez soundin´ almost like a reincarnation of Minnie Ripperton!
The batucada-influenced tune „Favela Gyal" is a hot dancehall riddim
with UK MC Coppa (who has played alongside the likes of Roni Size &
Dynamite, Adam F, Marcus Intalex, the G-Stone posse and many others),
Jamaican born Desmond Foster – who has also featured on several tracks
with Stockholm´s finest HipHop/ Freestyle producer Freddie
Cruger as a singer – lends his soulful voice to the intimate
Zilverzurf-track „The Moment is Gone" which has been put into a pure
Disco-reggae outfit by the 7 Sam´s. And last but not least,
Desmond (who, by the way, has hosted the infamous 7 Samurai "Poets
Dub"-compilation!) also proves his talents on the final track "Feel
the same".

All in all, the 7 Samurai´s present a great mixture of soul,
latin, brasil, jazz, swing, reggae, dub, dancehall and hip hop on „El
Mundo Nuevo" that sounds fresh and funky beyond the ordinary. And if
someone says "...just another remix compilation" then don´t
forget that some of the most successful dance music bestsellers in the
last ten years were compilations like "K&D sessions", "Jazzanova",
"Verve remixed", just to name a few.

"El Mundo Nuevo" track by track

1. Sou da pesada (Jorge Ben)
One of the early 60´s titles of samba rock legend Jorge Ben
gets the 7 Samurai treatment: extra percussion, extra samba & some
soaring strings. Gilles Petersons summer # 1 hit 2007 is born! Check
Jorge Ben´s "Oh Bidu "LP! This official remix was only possible
due to the fact that rights of this abum are in Italy and Paolo Scotti
got his hands on it! Maximum respect to one of Europe´s best
diggers.

2. Sol de verão (Alessao Vilhoso)
Alessao Vilhoso is one of the young singer songwriters on nowadays
Rio scene; he recently was discovered after a soccer match at
Ipanema. The original version of his first recording ever, the samba
rock influenced "Sol de Verao" (Summersun) even made it into the
Austrian Top 40 as it was used for an advertising of Austrian national
railway. The 7 Samurai used for their rework most tracks of the
original and added one of their trademarks, a kickin´ electronic
dancehall beat with slight batucada influences.

3. Atchika Nova (Janko Nilovic)
7´s tribute to the great french library soundtrack composer
Janko Nilovic; more dancehall beats fused with scat vocals and a bossa
nova twist.

4. Choca las caderas (Otto de Rojas)
we love our little latin disco! Otto de Rojas "choca las caderas" is
one of these lost and rare latin funk unclassic 7"s from Peru.Add
some additional keys, kick ,bass & some gentle dub effects and
you´ll get one of the best kept secret 7 Samurai floorfiller
refixes.

5. It ain´t necessarily so (Idea 6)
Talkin all that jazz! One of the original influences of the 7…
presented here as a take on the vocal jazz standard "It ain´t
necessarily so" of the italian all star jazz combo Idea6

6. Kikiriboom (Mo´Horizons)
Germanic lounge lords Mo'Horizons get an extra portion of heavily
70´s cuban influenced latin funk. Watch out for the 7 Samurai
compilation "Revolucion! Cuban afro funk of the 70´s" out on
Freestyle Records later this year.

7. You can´t get what you want ... (Andrea Pozza Trio)

Andrea Pozza is another Paolo Scotti production. 7 Samurai restyled
the original totally: Andrea´s crooner vocals get some heavy hip
hop beats, a chopped and looped mambo sample plus a drunken piano
player on top: you can get what you want!

8. No problem (The Dining Rooms)
Our first remix ever! Jazz samplin' hip hop with a twist! Funnily the
instrumental immediatley got bootleged in the UK with (some totally
out of tune....) Amerie vocals on top.

9. Bluesanova (7 Samurai feat. Stefania)
The first 7 Samurai tune ever in a new original version with some
charmin´ scat vox of Italy´s new jazz singer talent
Stefania Rava - a modern jazz dance classic!

10. Favela Gyal (7 Samurai feat. MC Coppa)
Original latin batucada influenced dancehall style beats with the
rising UK born MC Coppa on cop; watch out for some more 7 Samurai -
Coppa coops in the future.

11. Jah Music (7 Samurai feat. Blue Eyez)
Your summer soul anthem 2008?! Our take on the lost Inner Circle tune
featuring the vocal talents of Detroits own Alicia Blue Eyes
(Dwele´s former backing singer).

12. The Moment Is Gone (Zilverzurf)
Joe Gibbs influenced lovers rock remix for Stockholms reggae hero
Zilverzurf featuring the vocals of Desmond Foster …so sweeeet!

13. Feel the same (7 Samuraifeat. Desmond Foster)
Finally…the lost original to last years title for Poets Club
Records; live acoustic guitar, strings and Desmond´s deep and
soulful voice... the story has just begun.
