Because this rock and roll list is so helpful in solving my auto
problems and all of you were so helpful recommending transmission
places (mike's transmissions in durham have been pretty damn helpful
by the way, thanks everybody) and I don't really know who else to ask
and you all seem pretty smart I figured I would ask another question.

I could use more of your collective wisdom and wonder if any of you
ever sold a car for parts? Any places that take dead cars in the
Triangle (I know there are some, just wonder if you have gone to one
before)?

I guess I could try to sell it, and maybe someone would want it, but
for me at this point it probably isn't worth rebuilding a transmission
in a truck that would only sell for $1500 if it was in perfect working
order. Anyone want to buy a 1991 Ford ranger with 200,000 miles and
a dead transmission?

Are there junkyards around here that would want it to sell for parts?
I know there are non-profits that salvage dead autos on occasion, ever
heard anyone do that?

basically, as was assumed in my initial query, the truck is pretty
much fucked and I need to figure out something to do with it fairly
quickly and hopefully maybe get enough money for it to pay for the
towing. Good news is I like walking and could stand to lose a few
pounds.

I promise my next post will be about music.

thanks
smithers
