This Wednesday night at Nightlight will be the proud debut of Boat
Burning, an experiment in live music composition using prepared
guitars and chance.

Burning Boat, a project of Chapel Hill's Amps Do Furnish A Room music
collective, consists of Pete Gamble on processed guitar and loops,
Andy Fekete on prepared guitar, loops and sundry devices, and Ken
Friedman on drums and percussion.

Formed after a year-long study of the intricate Verlaine/Lloyd guitar
interplay in "Marquee Moon", Television's CBGB-era art-punk
masterpiece, Boat Burning takes the format of dual improvising guitars
and injects into it a steady stream of non-traditional tonal,
textural, rhythmic and chance elements. The idea is to prolong as much
as possible the moment where the creative process turns chaos into
order by continuously and deliberately thwarting its culmination; the
result is an extended live exploration into the often tenuous line
separating chaotic and music forms...

Headlining Wednesday night's show will be Greensboro's legendary
IRATA, who specialize in intense, densely layered,
experimental/ambient instrumentals.

Doors at 9, music starts 9:30.

Hope to see you there!
