Sunday - 9/2 - Neu Romance presents: "Disco Inferno!" - This night, part
fundraiser, part the best Labor Day weekend party in downtown temporarily
changes locations from the usual Tir Na Nog. Chico tells us the rest, "After
four and a half years of some of the best funk, soul, reggae, dub, ska,
classic hip-hop, classic rock, acid jazz, trip-hop, broken beat, and of
course deep house in downtown Raleigh I recently realized that Neu Romance
has never played disco. Well that will change this weekend at Riviera. Neu
Romance is pleased to present "Disco Inferno" - A Fundraiser for MusicSpark.
When I think of the 70's I think of Funkadelic and The Isley Brothers and Al
Green, but I have tons of disco records that I've been itching to play. DJ's
for the night will be Castro, Drew Diggle, Mark T., Krazerock, Esotic, and
myself, Madcow. This is a costume party, and you will be hot in your
polyester. But we'll crank the AC for you. The party starts at 8pm, and will
go until
2:30 depending on how much we like your outfits. Admission is only $5, and
all that money goes to the bands and DJ's performing for MusicSpark". 8p.
Riviera Resto, 136 S. Wilmington, Downtown Raleigh. For more info on
MusicSpark check, www.myspace.com/musicspark. For more info on how to dance

Wow! Thanks for sharing that! One time I was in the Record Hole and I
heard him say even more louder than usual, "Half of Jersey was conceived to
that record!" I don't know what record he was talking about. I may have
been stupid back then but I knew the Record Hole was a great place....though
I was too stupid to know Jason Perlmutter would come along 15 years later
and buy out all of the good r&b 45's, I could've bought some of that stuff
at the Record Hole and had some damn clout. As for Mr. Swain, I don't
recall why he came south, but I'm glad he did.
