Well, when I said we judge by cover art, I didn't say what criteria we use . . . I for one could go my whole life without getting any more "press kit" packages with a high school portfolio & an 8x10 glossy and a slick 4-color CD insert that looks like it was designed-by-numbers by some bored employee at the pressing plant. Plenty of my fave CDs over the past 4-5 years have come in all manner of odd handmade packages with magic marker on the CD-R and etc.

And I'm with you: without track names, I lose interest really quickly. Not sure why, even, but it just seems like a crucial thing.

I never judge on cover art or such, in fact i'm quite the reverse possibly, that, although a very nice impressive package is just that..nice and yes impressive..
i can get even more impressed by seeing a cdr or such put together in just the right way that i can just FEEL the love w/which they put that package together just flowing off the markered words with which they have signed the cd with. For instance 1 woman who sings & plays acoustic guitar sent a cd out of nowhere with no track names (tho i must say, I DO love as much INFO as possible..track names..etc...) & a colored somehow cd w/a red marker & wrapped inside the package in all these newspaper clippings of highlighted problems in the world.
