REALLY REALLY FREE MARKET
The Really Really Free Market is happening again this Saturday, February 3rd, from 1pm-5pm at the Carrboro Town Commons. Everyone is welcome at this free event, where all are encouraged to give, receive, and create on their own terms. You are invited to arrive between 1:00 and 5:00 pm with goods, services, skills, performances, stories, crafts, food, games, music, clothing, furniture, plants, and resources to share with others in the community. The event is self-organized by everyone who participates.Nothing is required for participation, but please think creatively about the skills you have and could teach, the useful or beautiful things you have and don't need, or the resources you can share with people to create something during the event.Really Really Free Markets celebrate forms of cooperation and gift-giving that move beyond the constraints of capitalist markets. They create open spaces in which status is generated by giving rather than owning, and in which giving and receiving happen directly rather than being administered through an institution or organization. As at other Really Really Free Markets across the U.S. and around the world, we aim to create and participate in a world in which resources are held in common, we find in ourselves the capacity to meet the needs of others in our community, and "free" means just that: really, really free.

The Carrboro Greenspace Collective is currently working to save 10.5 acres in the heart of downtown Carrboro from development in order to turn it into center for Community and Sustainability. This would
include programs like the ReCyclery, and other educational programs and events. Please come and check out the beautiful space that we hope will become a key space for cultivating artistic, environmental and social community in our area. The Greenspace is located at 116 Old Pittsboro Rd, down the street from the Open Eye Cafe. For more information contact 225.3433 http://grassroots.wikia.com/wiki/Carrboro_Greenspace

Tuesday, 13 February @ 7pm
ZELDA LOCKHART | COLD RUNNING CREEK
Lockhart, author of Fifth Born, will be here to discuss her latest
novel, Cold Running Creek. It is a lyrical, personal, and profoundly
realistic portrayal of figures of our past whose stories, until now, lay
buried beneath the rubble of slavery and Civil War. Lockhart presents a
novel that is as significant as Alex Haley’s Roots and as sensitive in
the portrayal of its characters as Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were
Watching God.

Thursday, 22 February @ 7pm
INGA MUSCIO | AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A BLUE-EYED DEVIL
Infamous author of Cunt, Inga Muscio will be here to discuss her latest
work, which examines the state of history and its flaws. She sets out to
rewrite a history that has been traditionally steeped in misogyny,
racism, imperialism, and classism. In doing so, she calls for a fresh
look at what we consider factual history.
