- Subject: Local 506 - Music Trivia Night - This Sunday, 8pm
- Date: 13 Oct 2006 11:35:01 -0700
Speaking of trivia, what do Simon & Garfunkle, S.F. Seal, Bob Dylan,
Mountain Goats, Don Henley, Meatloaf, Frank Sinatra, Charley Pride,
Belle & Sebastian and 3rd Bass have in common? They were also answers
to our playoff-inspired round of baseball-related questions during the
last music trivia night at Local 506.
For example:
# This 90's act on Matador Records and fronted by Barbara Manning,
took it's name from the minor league team that once included Joe
DiMaggio and recorded a song called 'Dock Ellis" about the
Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher who threw a no-hitter while tripping on
acid?"
# Although the song "Catfish" was recorded in 1976 by both Joe
Cocker and Kinky Friedman, this artist's own rendition of the song
that he wrote about North Carolina native Jim Hunter, who pitched for
the Oakland A's and New York Yankees, would not see release until a
1991 box set?
Local 506 Trivia Night is this Sunday at 8PM. Doors open at 7:30 for
those ambitious players who want to come early and get a jump on the
background music theme, which also factors into a question. Here's a
