kind of like how manbearpig is neither man, nor bear,
nor pig.

the place i've moved to has turned out to directly
abutt a heavily traveled deer path.

so a few weeks ago, the first time i was awakened at
night by deer grunts, i had no idea what was going on
outside my window.

now it's kind of announcement to go look out the
window and see a deer orgy.

but if you are on north greensboro street betweek
cheek and milton, watch out for the deer flying across
the road. the town put up an erosion fence beside the
road while a sidewalk is under construction, the road
being at a somewhat lower elevation than the shoulder
where the sidewalk is going in. this obstructs the
deer path, which crosses the road. so the deer take
running leaps over the fence from that higher
elevation and manage to land clear across the street.
it's quite an impressive sight to see a deer flying
out of the trees right *over* traffic. they're kind of
the mammalian equivalent of camel crickets.

cameldeercrickets.
