For the record, when I was negotiating to buy Local 506, I kept a legal
pad that I wrote down ideas for the club. Here it is over a year and a
half later and I've yet to have time to even look at that legal pad.

But some of these ideas (below) are on it, as were things like putting
out local music compilations, starting music industry networking
nights, doing music trivia nights, etc.. Actually, I guess there were
some on there that we implemented like Local Bands Reunited...

>What if the websites of venues that host local bands streamed
music of those artists and bands who are booked? The streaming players
would
act like a miniature radio station promoting the bands, the show, and
the
venue.

Yes, I agree. And some clubs have this feature on their sites, but I
haven't really had time to investigate it thoroughly. Back before 506
was even a glimmer in my eye, I made a lame attempt of approaching WUNC
about a music version of their show The State of Things. The State of
Music was to highlight acts playing within the state that week. I came
up with the idea because there were always so many acts playing the
Cradle that I'd never heard of...and it's the Cradle! Heck, even now
there are plenty of bands who play the Cradle that I don't know...and
I'm in the same business!!

>>>The 506 has a podcast. But I think that the 506 would
do well to have a myspace account. But as Glenn said,
he would need an intern to keep up with all that.

Actually, 506 does have a myspace account, i just having done anything
with it. Everytime I start to work on it, I get blindsided with
something else. Likewise, the Local 506 podcast should be back up and
running soon in a new monthly-magazine format (as opposed to weekly.)
We actually recorded one for January, but decided to do more tweaking
before making it available.

But yes, the day to day stuff is time-consuming making it difficult to
pursue new ideas. Besides booking, there really isn't really one thing
that takes up a lot of time, but a lot of little things that add up
(beer orders, fliers, updating website, etc.) But, as always, I'm open
to ideas and will hopefully implement the good ones one day.
