I have a mixed review:
I went to Hatfield-Berrang in Durham for a fitting/impression to send
off for custom earplugs. They didn't seem too interested after I told
them I was having the plugs made somewhere else. So it wasn't the most
pleasant experience.
But I can wholeheartedly endorse the ER-15 Musician's Earplug (from
Etymotic Research or Sensaphonics). A little strange the first time you
put them in, but the sound is great. You can still hear everything, but
turned down a bit. The ER-25 might be better for you if you need a
little more than the ER-20. It's a deep mold but still flat frequency
response.
Geek out.

I went to UNC - The audiology department -
Went into the submarine tank - got a hearing test -
had the "specialist" look in my ear for 4 minutes -
and told me that my hearing was fine - no damage -
but that there is no cure for the tinnitus I have been suffering - and
not to worry about it -
charge AFTER my state employees BC/BS was over 300$
thanks-
they gave no rec's for specific earplugs either -
So if you have 300 bucks to burn - thats your place
