THIS FRIDAY OCTOBER 14

John Gillespie spins anecdotes from his life for Mister Diplomat, the improvised show inspired by the personal stories of local celebrities. Last week a sold out crowd cheered Big Fish Author Daniel Wallace and we are proud to host John Gillespie this weekend. John has been a fixture of the Chapel Hill music scene since 1987, when he met Elaine Tola in a Comparative Literature class at UNC-Chapel Hill. The two formed Nikki Meets the Hibachi. The band was hugely popular in Chapel Hill, and earned airplay across the country, evenutally landing on the CMJ Top 100 College chart. Nikki Meets the Hibachi is still active today, and is currently re-mastering their 1992 album The Bluest Sky for re-release. John has been teaching English at East Chapel Hill High School for the last ten years, and is also a veteran of other local bands Kickball and Two Fish Blue.

October 15
4:00-6:00 Jimmy Magoo & Friends
Beloved Jimmy Magoo is an award-winning singer/songwriter, actor,=20
director, composer, playwright, and poet. =46rom his first days as a=20
member of the Somnambulist Project theater company to his recent=20
musical scoring of the PaperHand Puppet Intervention show at Chapel=20
Hill=92s Forest Theatre, Jimmy has inspired and delighted audiences of=20=

all ages, shapes and sizes for over a decade. He leads several ongoing=20=

music, theater and performance workshops for kids and adults, and has=20
recorded seven CDs, including Short & Sweet, his first album for kids.=20=

Often billed as kid's music for grownups and everyone in between.

6:00-8:00 Wood & Steel
An acclaimed piedmont bluegrass band with a reverence for traditional=20
sound yet unafraid to feather its repertoire with a variety of songs=20
and styles, from beautifully harmonized original songs to gospel to=20
bluegrass versions of Dylan. Each of the musicians in the band is a=20
bluegrass virtuoso and together Wood & Steel just blows you away and=20
should not be missed!

October 22 Wrinkle Neck Mules
Rocking backwoods alt-country, this Virginia, Wyoming, Texas based 5=20
piece is in demand and unforgettable. Americana threaded with=20
haunting moments, beautiful lyrics and Southern Rock Harmonies - get=20
here to see them cause you won't get in anywhere else!

October 29th Starting at 3:00! It'sOktoberfest!!! Southern BackPorch=20
Polka Get Down!
This day-long extravaganza is the culmination of our summer/fall series=20=

- Microbreweries and local breweries will be on hand - sausages, polkas=20=

and lots of fun and here's the music line-up!!!!
The Hushpuppies - What truly sets the Hushpuppies apart and makes them=20=

an outstanding revival old-time band is that they=92ve captured the feel=20=

of the music of the elderly fiddle and banjo players they visit and yet=20=

they still sound deliciously like themselves. The Hushpuppies have a=20
charming rakishness that is all their own yet they capture the essence=20=

of that =93old sound=94 so well that you almost expect to hear the crack =
of=20
the needle as it jumps the scratches of the old 78.
Memphis -Some of the best music the south has to offer - garage roots=20
rock in a winning blend of ageless musical genres. Take the energy of=20
rock, folk, blues, jazz, rockabilly and psychedelic; focus them into=20
musical harmonies, and you get the undiminished soul of MEMPHIS. This=20
is beautiful stuff in all its ragged, raise-your-glass glory.
Haw River Waltz -Former Rockers are making a special appearance playing=20=

a mishmash of old Americana, Sea Shantys and lots more thrown in for=20
fun - Haw River Waltz is a brand new venture and proving to be lots of=20=

fun!
Regina Hexaphone -Regina Hexaphone has created some of the most=20
inventive arrangements to come out of North Carolina this year, with=20
everything from vibes to lap steel to cello to runway feedback - yes,=20
runway feedback=97on tunes about ice, insects, heroes and lost love.=20
Pastoral dream music filled with evocative imagery, subtle style and=20
backed by sublime violin. Don't miss them!

November 2 Stargazing Paddle -with Haw River Kayak and Canoe Company
Night-time paddles on a 300 acre lake above the dam in Saxapahaw - Call=20=

336.260.6465 to register.

BRING A PICNIC, TOUR THE MILL AND ENJOY SOME GREAT MUSIC ALL IN THE=20
SPIRIT OF A BEAUTIFUL DAY BY THE RIVER!
