- Subject: Barbez, Jaguaro, Killer Filler: NINE P.M. monday!
- Date: 11 Sep 2005 20:27:29 -0700
Mon., Sept. 12 @ Wetlands
It's starting at NINE P.M., fer real. Jaguaro's first.
Grayson Currin (Indy) writes:
"Several were swept away by Devotchka's opening set for M. Ward in
Chapel Hill earlier this year: They need to see Barbez, a New York
seven-piece making a klezmatic/gypsy/Eastern European hybrid, delivered
in the full-throated theatrics of Ksenia Vidyaykina and backed by
Pamelia Kurstin, one of the world's most accomplished theremin players.
Killer Filler is Crispy Bess' new bag, and Jaguaro may look like The
White Stripes, but they sound, well, like flesh-mangling,
cymbal-separating animals.
$5/9 p.m."
but Bob Moog said it best:
"Barbez is one of my favorite bands. For me, their musicianship,
creativity, and intelligent presentation just makes me feel good to
listen to them, both live and on CD." -Bob Moog
