*NEXT* WEDNESDAY, AUG 17 - END OF SUBURBIA FILM SHOWING, 7pm

Internationalist will be showing "The End of Suburbia" on Wednesday
August 17 at 7pm at the store. "The End of Suburbia explores the
American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a
critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip
supply. World Oil Peak and the inevitable decline of fossil fuels are
upon us now, some scientists and policy makers argue in this
documentary.

The consequences of inaction in the face of this global crisis are
enormous. What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy prices
skyrocket in the coming years, how will the populations of suburbia
react to the collapse of their dream? Are today's suburbs destined to
become the slums of tomorrow? And what can be done NOW, individually
and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia ?"

SEPT 24 - REALLY REALLY FREE MARKET IS BACK

The next Really Really Free Market will be September 17th, from 1:00 - 5:00PM at the Town Commons in Carrboro. To get involved, you can subscribe to the low-traffic, event-specific listserv based at www.RiseUp.net or email Vinci Daro directly at vdaro AT email.unc.edu.

STOP WALMART

An effort is underway to stop Walmart from opening in Chatham County.
Walmart is renowned for low wages, failing to pay workers overtime,
driving local businesses out by selling products below cost, sexism,
and promoting the censorship of music and magazines. Internationalist
will be stocking bumper stickers, books, and t-shirts for those who
want to express their opposition to the behemoth. For more info
about how to stop Walmart, contact Mark Barroso at 919-933-1461;
mbarroso at mindspring.com .

SEPTEMBER 24 NATIONAL ANTI-WAR DEMONSTRATION

Save the date--September 24th there will be a large anti-war
demonstration in Washington DC. Internationalist will be a center
for information about busses to the demonstration and carpools for
people who want to stay for the lobbying day/civil disobedience on
Monday. For more info, http://www.unitedforpeace.org/
