Saturday 5/21: CLANG QUARTET / ROBOT VS RABBIT / NATIONAL HOLOGRAPHIC /
HAZARDOUS GUADALUPE. 10PM / $3.
CQ is Scotty Irving's (GEEZER LAKE) stunning one man all-improv
makeshift
percussion / homemade-electronics show. Each performance is highly
moving and
memorable - If you haven't seen him before, don't MISS THIS. Hazardous
Guadalupe is a kinda sloppy, gnarly, groovy, droney garage-jazz-outfit
-
think Reynols or Quixotic or Shepp - HOT STUFF IF YOU ASK ME. Robot vs
Rabbit is another NC drone-noise-psyche treasure: walls of feedback,
"found
noise", ethnic instruments and melodies, all hinged to tribal drums and
ancient chants that form a murky, unsettling and yet captivating whole.
National Holographic is a local ambient electronic outfit.
ONLY $3!!! ALL AGES!!!! Plus the coldest cheapest beer in town w/an ID.
Sunday 5/22: ARTLORD & The Self Portraits / DAN DEACON / BOYZONE /
NUCLEAR
POWER PANTS. 10PM / $3. LIVE DANCE MUSIC NIGHT!
Artlord = Greenville-based megalomaniacal throw-back synthpop. Dan
Deacon
plays retarded glitch-dance-pop that all the shirtless undergrads seem
to
love. BOYZONE has come up with ALL NEW MATERIAL for this, their last
show for
a long time until key influence and WXYC DJ JEFF REHNLUND returns from
his
postgraduate travels abroad. NPP seem to be equipped with alligator
hats, a
keytar, and a floor tom, expect a PERFORMANCE. PLUS there will be LOUD
DANCE
MUSIC playing thru our PA in between bands! This night has both
momentum and
direction. +P+A+R+T+Y+
ONLY $3!!! ALL AGES!!!! ETC
