This is really REALLY embarrassing, having to reply to my own post. Come on people. Well, I guess none of you "very into the music scene" have yet seen
"24hr Party People"?? Oh... when you do? you'll be repling?? Ok.
But I doubt you'll find this number at your local rental??...and I'm
not sure I can wait until you get your copy from amazon, (because
sometimes it takes along time to arrive) then view it, then, take some
time to mull it over, then reply?? By THEN I will have already
received my copy from amazon ($7.59 used) and well... have watched it
at least several more times, bringing my total viewing to something
like 6 complete viewings. So yes, I will be ready to discuss how
totally entertaining Coogan was and How good the "faux" punk numbers
were, some of them, especially the guy with Turrets syndrome who hangs
himself after he gets his big break(a chance to tour his band in the
USA)??? This movie would make ANYONE want to go out and start a big
club immediately, and all the other things that go with that...sex
drugs raving mosh pit sex to the big loud weird rocking sound. Oh my
god, after all this raving about moral values from the right...then
all the horrors?? I'm just about ripe for a freak'n good party MAN!!!

really reeely good, people! I thought to myself, "i never saw noth'n
'bout 24hrPartyPeople?? You will reeelly dig this, baby. Coogan is
fantastic and guys, you'll love the history lesson. (have no idea if
it's true?? but the whole thing, somehow, don't know exactly how,
rocks!)

"Director Michael Winterbottom's new film (2003), "24 Hour Party
People," is a fictionalized tale of a real time in music history.

From 1976 to 1992, Manchester, England was the epicenter of one of the

hottest post-punk scenes in the world, and Tony Wilson, a TV
journalist turned record label owner and music promoter, was a major
player. In "24 Hour Party People," Wilson is played by British
comedian Steve Coogan."
