Farmers Supply Restaurant in Roxboro will be throwing a
Halloween party on Saturday,October 30. Since my group
(The Bottoms Up Band) isn't working that night I will be d.j.
for the party. There will be a costume contest with prizes
and more. Cover charge is $3(cheap). If you're near the area
stop in for some fun.
Also on the schedule is Turbulence on Saturday November 6.
These guys are friends of mine and they put on a pretty good
show doing mostly classic rock covers.
Farmers Supply Restaurant is located at 35 Abbitt Street
in downtown(uptown) Roxboro. Phone (336) 597-3663.

If you have any free time at all this week, I strongly encourage you to
go vote early. Turnout on Nov. 2 is going to be *much* heavier this year
than in probably any election since most of us started voting, *and*
it's clear that in many states (I dunno about NC, but hopefully not),
the Republicans are planning to flood the precincts with paid
"challengers" to slow down the voting process by challenging the
right-to-vote of anyone whom they believe might not be eligible to
vote--i.e. minorities & anyone else who looks like they might vote Democrat.

This isn't a secret or a rumor; they speak openly about it:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/23/politics/campaign/23vote.html

"Republican officials said they had no intention
of disrupting voting but were concerned about the
possibility of fraud involving thousands of newly
registered Democrats.

"The organized left's efforts to, quote unquote,
register voters - I call them ringers - have
created these problems," said James P. Trakas,
a Republican co-chairman in Cuyahoga County. "

I'm NOT trying to dissuade anyone from voting--it's pretty much the
single most important thing you're going to do between now & 2005. I'm
suggesting that it'll go quicker & more smoothly if those of us who can
spare the time this week will go vote this week rather than waiting til
next Tuesday.
