I second the Hanson & Crawford recommendation. I'll also add Tony Sullivan
and Wes Lambe to the mix since you mention closer to the CH area. Wes works
out of the Carrboro music loft and builds acoustic guitars. He set up one of
Tim Stambaugh's guitars turning it from a pain to a pleasure to play. There
are others that I can recommend but many of them have specific specialties
and may be further out of the area (Jon Kruppenbach who used to work with me
at the old Oxbow Music is one of the best but works out of Marshall, NC). For
expensive or vintage acoustics, I have to say that Tony Sullivan can be
trusted to do top-notch work on pre-war Martins etc. He can do a neck reset
without leaving any sign that the guitar has been tampered with. -Mark

Hey Everybody
After a long hiatus, I will be back playing at Farmers Supply Restaurant at
35 Abbitt Street in downtown (uptown) Roxboro this Thursday night, September
16. at 9:00. This time the group is called The Bottoms Up Band and includes
my partners -in- crime B.J. Jacques, Lisa Wrenn, Chris Stamps and Billy Lea.
I believe there will be an admission charge but it's cheap($3).
Having recently changed owners, food and service at Farmers is better than
ever and they now have full mixed beverages so you can order your favorite
poison if you like.
Hope some of you can come out and join us.

Since the new automatic weapons ban is over and all those automatic
AK-47s/uzie instruments are again available, I thought it might be a
real kicker to start a band composed of automatic weapons. A
Republican percussion band! Imagine the possibilities! I've heard
those missle launchers can really blow a show wide open! rat ta tat ta
