Hello all,
I want to suggest an idea. On the 1st March we are going to officially
launch Remix Reading with a press conference followed by a launch party. We
thought that CC-EW might want to join us and officially launch the new
license on the same date. This would increase the profile of the event for
both of us and would tie in CC-EW with people who actually use the licenses.
Below is a brief breakdown of what is going to be happening on the 1st March
in South St Arts Centre in Reading:
Definitely happening:
A press conference
open mic session
an image exhibition
live booked performances
Most probably (we haven't confirmed yet, but it will likely happen):
film screenings
poetry readings
Depending on what ideas volunteers put forward (including yourselves):
a series of workshops and demonstrations with CC-EW and Free software
recording the event
The venue, equipment, press conference and open mic are confirmed. We are
talking to the venue, local organisations including
Readipop, PlugnPlay, Reading University, Reading College for Art and Design,
Reading Linux Users' Group and others to set-up the rest. We want all or
most of the material used live to be on the web site before the event, with
lots of focus on remixing at the event, performing / showing remixes of
others' content. We were also hoping that people on the CC-UK list might be
able to help us on the day with workshops, between the press conference and
live events. If you're interested, please get in touch and we will fill you
in with more details; we will send out a proper call for proposals soon.
Even if people on the list can't help on the day, we also hoped that you
would be able to give us any press contacts that you have, especially for
journalists that would be interested in Creative Commons/Free Software and
events including them. We already have all the local contacts (see
http://www.readingcampaigns.org.uk/rdb.pl?op=viewarticle&aid=30) and some
national (http://www.readingcampaigns.org.uk/rdb.pl?op=viewarticle&aid=32)
but are hoping for a comprehensive list of journalists, especially in the
online/technology world.
Many Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all,
Edward Griffith-Jones

new, faster host. The site should be back up again on Saturday.
