As it stands, if someone clicked "no", they should not get a CC license. A "yes, however they wish" sounds like it would map to a Public Domain license.

No, because you might want to allow derivative works but not distribution. Or vice-versa. But if both no's were selected (or nothing was checked in my simpler layout), it would map to a PD license.

The others are nice obvious modifiers, but I don't understand the "not alongside any other media" option. What license property does that map to?

None. I was just throwing out the idea. Maybe if someone didn't want their song used in a movie w/o their permission, or their painting used as a book cover. Something like that. Haven't thought it all the way through.

The rest of the options are logically arranged, getting more restrictive as you go down the list. I'm assuming you were envisioning these options as checkboxes (so you could click as many as necessary), correct?

yup

Technically, it doesn't seem impossible to map these questions to the current set of licenses, though mixing new license properties into old ones would throw a wrench into the current backend.

I certainly don't want to cause you guys extra trouble. I didn't expect that such a huge infrastructure was in place, but I can be dumb like that sometimes ;) But if the sampling license managed to address everyone's concerns, I'm sure it would be enough to last a long while, or at least replace most of the proprietary licenses out there.
