The three day holiday has finally given me the chance to get things back
on track with the CCLicenseLib project(available at
http://workspaces.gotdotnet.com/cclib) and I'm finally releasing version
1.3 of the library. The release provides license version updates,
enhancements to the RDF parsing functionality and introduces new
functionality to parse ID3 and license information from MP3 files (this is
in preparation for the implementation of license verification
functionality into the library). You can download the latest release and
source from the project website (http://workspaces.gotdotnet.com/cclib)
and you can view the release notes for this version at
http://www.delegatetechnologies.com/projects/cclicenselib/releasenotes1_3.txt
for more details.
Here are a few quick highlights of the release:
*Support for version 2.0 of Creative Commons Licenses (Version 1.0
licenses are still supported as well for legacy reasons)
*Updated Namespace organization of classes
*Enhanced RDF parsing. (Parsing routines now only extract CC
related RDF from a data source instead of all RDF instances.)
*MP3 ID3 frame parsing support. This functionality is in response
to Nathan Yergler's release of the ccTag
(http://yergler.net/projects/cctag/releases/) application to
embed Creative Commons license information into MP3s.
(NOTE: this release provides parsing functionality only.
Tagging functionality is planned to be implemented in the
next release since there is already a tool that allows you to embed
it, so for now you can only parse information from an mp3 file.)

Project RoadMap
****************
At this point, focus will be on testing the existing version of the
library, building a few applications that utilize the library, and
extending functionality to incorporate the following functionality into
future releases:
*MP3 Tagging Functionality - adding the ability to tag MP3 files with
CC license information. (this will probably be a port of the existing
ccTag functionality written by Nathan Yergler from python to C#)
*License Verification - adding the ability to verify licenses.
*Database Connectors & Routines - adding the ability to store CC
license information into various databases. (Since the library is
currently written in C#, initial focus will primarily be on
integration with MS SQL Server) This functionality will
include class objects as well as database scripts for creation of the
appropriate tables.
*Others??? - If you have functionality you would like to see
implemented
in the library, please email me with your ideas.
